The first in this series of one-day Jewellery Masterclass coincides with the V&A’s much acclaimed exhibition: Alexander McQueen:’ Savage Beauty’. Participants will be accompanied on a very special tour of the exhibition with the UK’s most celebrated jeweller, Shaun Leane.

The young jeweller met Alexander McQueen in 1992 and it was a meeting of kindred spirits. McQueen was impressed with Shaun’s goldsmithing techniques and his attention to detail and asked Shaun to work with him on jewellery designs for his catwalk shows which was the start of a long standing collaboration.

This private tour will be a very rare chance to be with one of the few people who worked with McQueen from the very start of his career. Shaun will talk participants through the stories and the inspiration that lay behind his catwalk jewels, which will be included in the exhibition. Independent jewellery expert Joanna Hardy will then lecture on Modern Jewellery.

After a delicious light lunch in a nearby South Kensington restaurant, participants will go on to a further lecture by Joanna Hardy and a handling session of the Shaun Leane collections led by the designer.

This wonderful day will draw to a close with a Champagne reception.
